The Marketplace

International Timber Trade, Simplified

Buying and selling timber across continents has traditionally involved endless email exchanges, scattered documentation, and complex administrative processes.
GTH was built to eliminate these inefficiencies.

The platform gives importers in Europe and Southeast Asia access to a curated network of verified producers and suppliers from Europe, Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia.
Every supplier is vetted before joining the marketplace, and every product listing clearly specifies:

Wood species
Dimensions
Quality grade
Country of origin
Availability
Lead time

For suppliers, GTH provides direct access to qualified buyers actively searching for specific species, grades, and volumes, eliminating time wasted on unqualified enquiries.
The platform also supports the documentation required for the Due Diligence process under the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), making compliance part of the commercial workflow.

Built for EUDR Compliance

Built for EUDR Compliance Documentation required by the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) is integrated into the purchasing workflow, helping buyers manage compliance more efficiently.

Direct Negotiation

Direct Negotiation Buyers and suppliers communicate directly through the platform, with a complete and transparent history of every quotation and negotiation.

Three Steps

From RFQ to Shipment in Three Simple Steps

1

Search and Send an RFQ

Buyers search products using filters such as species, dimensions, quality grade, and country of origin. Once the desired material is found, they send a Request for Quote (RFQ) directly to the supplier.

2

Receive the Quote and Negotiate

Suppliers respond with pricing, availability, and delivery schedules. Both parties can negotiate commercial terms, revise offers, and reach an agreement without leaving the platform. • No endless email chains. • No lost information. • No misunderstandings.

3

Confirm the Order and Manage the Shipment

Once the quotation is accepted, the order is generated automatically. Supporting documentation, including certifications, compliance documents, packing lists, and shipping records, is stored and managed within the platform. From order confirmation to final delivery, every stage can be tracked in one place.

For Importers

Benefits for Importers

For European importers, compliance with the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) has become one of the industry’s greatest challenges.
The regulation requires importers to demonstrate that timber products:

do not originate from land deforested after 31 December 2020;
have been produced in accordance with the legislation of the country of origin;
are supported by the documentation required to complete the Due Diligence process.

Although these obligations fall on the European importer, successful compliance depends on suppliers being able to provide accurate and complete documentation.
In practice, this often results in lengthy verification processes, misunderstandings, and unnecessary costs.

GTH was created to solve this problem.
During onboarding, every supplier is assessed not only for commercial reliability but also for their ability to provide the documentation required by European importers.
Compliance therefore becomes an integral part of the purchasing process, not an issue to solve after the sale.

For Buyers

For Suppliers

Benefits for Suppliers

Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia produce some of the world’s most sought-after tropical hardwoods.
European buyers continue to demand certified plantation teak, bangkirai, merbau, and many other species used primarily in outdoor applications.
For suppliers, however, the challenges remain the same:

finding qualified buyers;
managing increasingly complex documentation;
completing secure transactions with clear commercial terms.

GTH provides direct access to verified European importers actively looking for specific timber products.
Suppliers can showcase their products, receive RFQs, negotiate prices, and manage every stage of the sales process through to order confirmation.
The objective is simple: build long-term business relationships based on trust, transparency, and efficiency.

My Story

The Founder's Story

My name is Mauro Pivato.
I entered the timber industry at the age of 25.
For many years I have lived and worked across Southeast Asia, specialising in timber sourcing, grading, and quality control while building long-standing relationships with producers in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Myanmar.
Everything I know about this business has been learned through hands-on experience.
Until 2021, I worked primarily in the Burmese teak sector, managing sawmills in Myanmar and collaborating with Malaysian and Singaporean exporters supplying timber to customers around the world, particularly in Europe.

Throughout my career I kept encountering the same situation.
European importers struggled to obtain documentation that satisfied the requirements of their national competent authorities.
In many cases, suppliers already possessed the necessary documents, but they were not submitted in the required format or with sufficient detail.
The result was frustration, delays, and unnecessary costs for everyone involved.
Having worked closely with both suppliers and importers, I realised the real problem was not the documentation itself, it was the absence of a shared, structured process.
That insight led to the creation of GTH.
A private B2B e-procurement platform where every supplier is verified before joining and must demonstrate their ability to meet the documentation standards required by European importers.
Every buyer is also a legitimate business.
No anonymous traders.
No unverified intermediaries.
Simply a trusted marketplace built by someone who understands the realities of the timber trade.
It's the platform I wish had existed when I started my career.
Today, it does.
